Website Development FAQs

Are you a professional web developer?

No. We specialize in clean, well-designed sites for authors, not complex web applications. If you need a beautiful site that showcases your book and drives readers to purchase, that’s exactly what we do.

Do I pay upfront or at the end?

At the end. We want you to be happy with the job Storyhound did, so we don’t mind being paid at the end of a job well done.

What platform do you use to build websites?

Most of our experience is in WordPress, but we can also build in Squarespace or Wix.

Who owns the website login?

Everything will be done in your name and your account. We want you to feel like you have total control over the website, and we’ll show you how to do basic things like changing your password, uploading a blog post, etc.

How long would it take to build?

Depending on the number of pages on your site, it will probably take between 3–4 weeks.

Will people be able to buy books directly on my site?

Adding e-commerce is a whole thing, so we recommend buttons that send people to Amazon or whatever site customers would order.

I’m in the Chicago area. Are you willing to meet in person to walk through major milestones?

Absolutely. We understand not everybody is super tech-savvy, so we’re more than happy to meet and walk through major steps in the process in person.

I’m not in the Chicago area. How would we meet?

We’d either do it via a video conference of your choice (Zoom, Google Meet, etc.) or an old-school phone call.
